It uses a Fisher-Yates shuffle driven by crypto.getRandomValues, your browser cryptographic random source. Every possible ordering is equally likely, unlike the naive sort-by-random trick which is measurably biased.
Can I use this for a fair prize draw?
Yes. Paste the entrant names, shuffle, and take the top line as the winner. The randomness is cryptographic quality, and nothing is sent anywhere so the result cannot be tampered with remotely.
Does shuffling twice give the same result?
No. Each run draws fresh random values, so pressing the button again produces a completely new order.
Are duplicate lines removed?
No, shuffling keeps every line. Empty lines are dropped by default, which you can turn off with the option above.
