Should I include the end date?
It depends what you are counting. For a notice period or a hotel stay you usually want the inclusive count, which the checkbox provides. For an age or a gap between events, leave it off.
Why do the years-months-days and total days figures look inconsistent?
Because months have different lengths. Two months might be 59 days or 62. The breakdown counts calendar months, while the total counts actual days — both are correct.
What happens when I add a month to 31 January?
You get 28 February, or 29 in a leap year. The result is clamped to the last valid day of the target month rather than spilling over into March.
