PNG to JPG Converter

Convert a PNG to JPG to cut the file size dramatically — with control over quality and what colour fills any transparent areas.

Conversion happens on a canvas in your browser, so the image is never uploaded. Note that converting a JPG to PNG cannot restore detail already lost to JPEG compression — it only changes the container, and usually makes the file larger.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why convert PNG to JPG?

File size. A photograph saved as PNG is often five to ten times larger than the same image as JPG with no visible difference, because PNG is lossless and not designed for photographic content.

What happens to transparency?

JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background colour you choose — white by default. Pick a colour that matches wherever the image will be placed.

When should I keep the PNG?

For logos, screenshots, diagrams and anything with sharp edges or text. JPEG compression creates visible smudging around hard edges, which is exactly where PNG excels.

Is the conversion lossless?

No — JPG is a lossy format by design. At 90% quality the loss is imperceptible for photographs, but keep your original PNG if you plan to edit the image again later.
